If you have made the decision to live in or move to Barrie, I am here to tell you you’ve made a great choice. And if you are thinking of moving to this beautiful city, I’d like to tell you why I think that Barrie is one of the best places to live in all of Canada.

As a mortgage broker in Barrie, I absolutely love living here. It is close enough to the GTA that you could commute there from Barrie if you wanted to and yet Barrie is a city that still feels family oriented. And why wouldn’t it? There is so much to do here ranging from enjoying nature in the great outdoors, to cultural experience to a thriving culinary scene.

The Great Outdoors

If you love outdoor activities, you’ll love living in Barrie. In the summer, you’ll enjoy the city’s beautiful beaches including Johnson’s Beach, Centennial Park, Minet’s Point and more. And if you love to ski or snowboard, you’ll be happy to know that Barrie receives about 100 inches of snow each year and is only a few minutes away from Horseshoe Valley and perfectly situated for a day trip to some of the best ski resorts in Ontario.

Cultural Experiences

Are you more of an indoors type? There is lots for you do to in Barrie too! Our historical downtown has lots of classy boutiques and the city is home to two live performance theatres where you can enjoy plays, dance performances, and concerts. The MacLaren Art Centre is a gallery where you can spend the day viewing the works of various artists or even take a class to become a better artist yourself.

The Food Scene

Barrie also has a thriving food scene and cuisines of many different nationalities can be found throughout the many restaurants in the historical district. If you enjoy a nice craft beer, be sure to check out Flying Monkeys craft brewery.
